How to make a business card QR code

  1. 1

    Enter your details

Add the fields you want people to save. Leave any field blank to skip it.

  2. 2

    Download the file

Use SVG for print, since it stays sharp at any size. Use PNG for slides, email signatures and social posts.

  3. 3

    Test, then print

Scan it with your phone camera before printing. Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide with a white border around it.

Static vs dynamic QR codes

This free generator makes a static QR code: your details are stored inside the pattern itself. That means it works forever without a server, but you have to reprint it whenever something changes. A dynamic QR code points to a hosted profile instead, so you can update your details without reprinting and see how often it is scanned. Most card apps charge a monthly fee for that. Lifetime vCard includes it for one payment.

QR code questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no scan limit. The code is generated in your browser and you own the file.

Will my QR code expire?

No. It is a static code with your contact details stored inside it, so it keeps working even if this website disappears. Some “free” generators create dynamic codes that stop working when a trial ends. This one does not.

Do iPhone and Android scan vCard QR codes?

Yes. The built-in camera on iPhone (iOS 11 and later) and most Android phones recognizes vCard QR codes and offers to add the contact. No app is needed.

What size should I print my QR code?

At least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 × 0.8 in) on a business card. Bigger is better for posters: a common rule is 1 cm of code for every 10 cm of scanning distance. Always leave a white margin around it.

Why is my QR code so dense?

Static codes get more complex as you add more text. If yours looks crowded, remove optional fields or use a link to a digital business card, which keeps the code simple at any length.
